Emirates & Air Arabia Suspend Flights to EBB Airport Due to Ebola
News are circulating worldwide about the outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. The Ebola disease is only available in DRC.
Uganda is put on the list of countries with the virus only because of the imported cases. This resulted after patients with the Ebola virus crossed from the nearby DRC to Uganda mainly to seek proper and quality medical attention.
The first Congolese patient visited a hospital in Kampala and doctors attended to him before discovering that it was Ebola disturbing him. So this automatically led to a serious exposure to the virus by all the medical officials are were on duty that day.
Even the driver who transported this patient was exposed too. Medical tests were done on this Congolese national and the results confirmed it was Ebola. All people who were close to this person were isolated put in the perfect medical watch to manage the symptoms.
After this explanation, I think you are able to understand why Uganda is involved in the Ebola disease news. The ministry of health is working hard to curb the wide spread of this virus to the communities in various parts of the country. All Congolese borders with Uganda are closed and all nationals denied entry to the pearl of Africa.
With this health crisis, the United Arab Emirates decided to cancel all visas for nationals from Uganda, DRC and South Sudan. No person from these three countries is allowed to enter into the UAE. If you traveled through Uganda, you must spend about three weeks in another country to be issued entry to the UAE.
With this suspension, Fly emirates and Air Arabia decided to cancel all its passenger flights to Entebbe international Airport. Right now these flight companies are only operating cargo flights to and from the EBB Airport. This is majorly affecting the tourism industry as tour operators are recording multiple trip cancellations.
