My Experience after Arriving at Entebbe Airport Late at Night
In June 2026 I had a business trip to Uganda. I applied for the travel Visa, booked flight to EBB and traveled with Ethiopian Airlines. My flight was to arrive at EBB late in the night.
My first worry was how safely to get from the Entebbe international Airport to my hotel in Kampala. I am here to assure you that worry not about the transport from the Aeroport to the capital city of Uganda.

The reservationist guided me that the driver will be available for me. He will be waiting at the arrivals waiting area with my name. That after clearing at the customs I should go and meet him. The arrival waiting area is the exit point of the arrivals terminals. This place has a black gorilla statue. You can easily see this statue as you are exiting. When you move further you find people standing with placards that display various names of guests arriving.
My flight arrived in the midnight. I started the clearing process. The queue is always long, so you have to be patient. Be sure to have the needed travel documents to avoid inconveniences and delays. They must be valid. If you dont have them, expect no entry permission.
After clearing at the customs, I came to discover that my luggage was missing. So I had to wait at the baggage claim office to report my issue and as well fill the form. This made me to delay and got worried whether I will find the driver still available for me.
Surprisingly the reservation agent checked on me whether I landed safely. At the Airport, there is free WIFI. I received his message and notified him that I am still sorting out my luggage. He replied by saying that it is fine. The driver will wait for you until you finish.
Yes, after the luggage issues I followed his guidelines and met with the driver who was waiting for me. He welcomed me with a smile. In case you get lost in the Airport terminals, you can notify the reservation Agent. He is ever available to guide you.
After meeting the driver, we proceeded to the car and started the ride to Kampala. I had a smooth ride and everything was fine. The transport fee was affordable. They charged me 40 USD for a ride to my hotel (Hilton Garden INN Kampala). Without doubt, it is worth it. Everything felt comfortable and safe for me.
Within the Airport, there are some local unregistered drivers moving around in search of clients who need a ride out of the Airport. I advise not to use them. He may be cheaper but not safe. Once anything happens, it is very hard to trace for that person.
It is always better to make arrangement with Entebbe Airport Express. All the drivers are registered, dressed in uniform and cars are marked with specific Airport taxi numbers.
