Side Effects of Ebola on the Entebbe Airport Taxi Business
After the news of Ebola outbreak in Uganda, it is not a surprise that several foreign visitors are cancelling their trips to the pearl of Africa. Ebola is a deadly disease. It is common in the nearby Democratic Republic of Congo. The first people to get this virus got it after eating wild animals like monkeys and bats. Congolese people like eating monkeys.
It reached Uganda after a Congolese national (Ebola patient) crossed to Uganda to get quality medication in one of the prominent hospitals in Kampala. This patient had serious illness and at first health officials did know that it was the Ebola disease disturbing him. Later after doing the tests to see what disease is torturing his health, they came to discover that it is the deadly disease.
Unfortunately most health officials at the hospital had already got exposed. The disease spreads through handshakes, sharing saliva like kissing, and other body fluids like sweat, urine, blood and semen.
After the news of Ebola, several foreign countries like USA, Canada issued serious travel alerts to its nationals. Moreover, nations like the United Arab Emirates canceled all travel visas for travelers from Uganda, South Sudan and the DRC. Airlines like Fly Emirates, KLM, Fly Dubai and Air Arabia suspended all passenger flights to and from the notable pearl of Africa.
With several travelers to Uganda cancelling their trips, the Airport taxi business is not doing well. Clients requesting rides to Kampala and other parts of Uganda are very few on a daily basis.
For now, Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Uganda Airlines, Air Tanzania, Brussels, Turkish and Egypt Air are the only airlines offering passenger flights to Uganda.
