Situated in the Eastern region of the country, Jinja is amongst Uganda’s top cities. Some people refer to it as the capital city of the East.

This place consists of multiple things, including industrial parks, local markets, entertainment centers, commercial buildings, tourist attractions, and a lot more.

Jinja is the starting point for most roads to other areas in the Busoga region and North East like Mbale, Iganga, Busia, Malaba, Kapchorwa, Budaka to name but a few. This lively city welcomes thousands of people, including tourists who come in to explore its unending charms.

I have tried to list below the main reasons why travelers wish to spend some of their time in this spot while in Uganda for a relaxing holiday.

Ease of accessibility

Jinja is about 80 km from Kampala and 126 km from Entebbe airport, the gateway to Uganda. Right now, the pearl of Africa has EBB as the only international airport.

Hoima airport (Kabaale) is soon joining the list once it’s completed. From the EBB airstrip, you can get a taxicab to Jinja and travel safely. It is cheap, flexible, private, and good at managing time. Make sure to reserve with Entebbe Airport Express in advance.

Getting to Jinja by road transport is possible and easier. It takes not more than three hours to finish the Journey via Kampala – Jinja road, especially when the path is traffic-free. Car congestion is common in the morning and evening hours.

If not this route motorists use the Entebbe – Namugongo – Seeta, Gayaza – Kalaji – Mukono and Gayaza – Kalaji – Kayunga – Nile road.

Appealing draws

Leaving alone the city center, this place has a wealth of delighting allures in its various corners. The list includes the source of the Nile, Owen Falls, and Bujagali dam, Itanda falls with its white water rapids, and Busowoko falls, Samuka Island with its birdlife, and more.

While in Jinja, you engage in different breathtaking activities such as white water rafting, bungee jumping, water sliding, tubing the Nile, quad biking, Zip lining in Mabira forest, and boat cruise on the waters of Lake Victoria. With this all, a trip to this location is more rewarding.

One of the major things that make up a fantastic holiday is accommodation. For Jinja, this is a worry no point. The area comprises lodging facilities of varied categories, including a budget, mid-range, and luxury properties.
